Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in recognition of its partnership with Ngāti Whātua Orākei has established scholarships to increase participation, retention and success of Māori (of Ngāti Whātua Orākei descent) who have demonstrated the academic potential to succeed at tertiary level. As well as recognising academic achievement these scholarships recognise potential leadership ability and contribution to the school, and community.

Amount and Type of Award:
An award of $6,500 to support full-time study in a degree programme at AUT. This will be paid either as:
A contribution in the first year of study towards accommodation in an approved Hall of Residence; or
A contribution to fees if the student is not eligible for the Government's first year fees free; or
If the recipient is eligible for first year fees free then either by payment into the student's personal bank account in three instalments throughout the first year of study or as a contribution to fees in the second year of study.
Tenure:
The scholarship is awarded for one year subject to the student passing all papers in the first semester of study. Academic progress will be monitored each semester.
