AUT Undergraduate Scholarships - Maori Advancement

Brief Description:

The Office of Maori Advancement provides undergraduate scholarships to recognise student academic achievement and contribution to the University. As well as recognising academic achievement these scholarships also recognise potential leadership.

AUT Undergraduate Scholarships - Maori Advancement are available to high achieving full-time students recorded as having Maori first ethnicity in Arion, undertaking an undergraduate degree programme of study at AUT who are entering the second or third year of their undergraduate degree. Students undertaking a four year undergraduate degree programme may apply for support for their fourth year.

Amount and Type of Award:

  • The scholarship consists of up to a $7,000 contribution towards fees.


Tenure:

  • The scholarship is awarded for one year only.
  • Recipients of this award who pass all papers and meet the required achievement level will be invited at the completion of the year of award to re-apply for a further year of study in an AUT Bachelor’s degree.


Important Information:

Scholarships will be available under the categories below:
  • Academic Excellence
  • Significant Student: Contribution at a high level to the University or community. Applicants under this category must hold leadership positions and/or be active in cultural pursuits or sport at a representative level.
  • Kiwa: Maori and Pacific students demonstrating all-round ability and leadership potential. Applicants applying under this category must declare that they are of Maori or Pacific descent and also have declared this ethnicity in the ARION system.
  • New Horizons: Students whose secondary schooling was at a Decile 1 -4 Auckland School, or who can demonstrate significant financial hardship. List of schools attached (Appendix 1).
