John Tapiata Scholarship

Brief Description:

The John Tapiata Scholarship was established in 1992 to acknowledge the contribution of John Tapiata as the first Tumuaki of Te Ara Poutama and his passion for excellence and Te Reo Māori.

Amount and Type of Award:


  • One new scholarship is awarded annually
  • The value of the John Tapiata Scholarship is a contribution towards fees of $6,000 for one year of full-time study at AUT


Tenure:


  • The tenure of this scholarship is for one year
  • Current recipients may apply for renewal for up to a total of three years but must submit a new application by the closing date each year.  Attachments and the reference statement are not required for renewal.
